CBN Grinding Points

Description

Opposed to diamond, CBN has no carbon atoms. It is made up of boron and nitrogen which means that it is the thing to use when you want to grind hard steel such as 54 HRc and above. As well as hard steel, CBN is also ideal on other materials like Stellite, High-speed steel (HSS) and other Nickel-based alloys.

Another big advantage that CBN has over diamond is when it comes to heat. When Diamond gets to around 700°C and above it starts to lose its hardness whereas CBN remains virtually unchanged at 1000°C and over.

Shapes:

  • Cylindrical for grinding bores, radii and contours.
  • Spherical often used for engraving, contour grinding and deburring.
  • Special shape KU for deburring plastic profiles.
  • Cylindrical with radius end best suited to manual applications for variety of deburring and grinding tasks.
  • Pointed tree used for machining small holes, bores, and engraving work.
  • Conical pointed is suited to deburring bores, regrinding centring holes and chamfering.
